remerbering g nicholas / Sylvia(debbie) Williams (old friend ) Nicholas today would have made you 44years and 1 month old,and today is my one and only daughter 18th birthday,Nick everytime i would talk about you she always said she wanted to meet this friday person whom her mom just can't to stop talking about, i move to orlando in 1986 so my daughter is from orlando and she was to young to go to a jam band dance when they came to orlando,so all we have now is his cd's,pictures and lots of memories,i will tell her about all the beach jams, parking lot jams etc.nicholas thanks for being the kind and generous person that you was,who always knows just how to make others feel cared for and loved...thanks for always going out of your way to make time for others and always giving of your self so freely, thanks for lasting memories...
Merciless/ Toppa Da Line Dimes Of The V.I (N.Y. Fan Club (for Friday) ) Mercilessly you took over and did what no other band could have done- captured Road March Titles year after year consecutively. Isn't God Great? Isn't He Amazing? Isn't He Worthy of Our Praises?
God has been good to us to borrow us His musician...a man so talented that it would be hard to live in the Virgin Islands without knowing about this man and his many skills. As we would refer to Nick...A Jack Of All Trades. He could do practically everything that had anything to do with music or a musical instrument.
Nick would always big up the many posse's and crew's that came to his performances...but ask about the Toppa Da Line Dimes. lol. We founded the Jam Band Fan Club idea and initially presented it to Nick and so it was- a beginning of about 50 people who would travel with the band. But you had to be a Die Hard fan and claim your status in order to be De Ultimate Fan/s.
We remember the days of travelling and not knowing how far the jam would be from the hotel. lol. Many times we would ask directions from people at the hotel from the afternoon, and ask them to have the directions ready for 12 midnight, when we all would meet in the lobby and then car pool to get there! Many nights we would go off course or straight up we would get lost but God had it in for us to reach back on course safely to be with the band and show dem how we do it in the VI.
Mercilessly we never gave up on the band through the changes over the years they toiled with Nick (members past and present) and now they still here. And we are still here too! And we aint going nowhere because we paying our money and for sure we going wuk up!
Since he left us, we were anxious- almost too anxious to here the band with Daddy Panther. Well, we got ready and went down to the jam and when Christal heard Daddy Panther start to sing, she cried. Like we does practise, "No Discriminating or Hating-it's All ONE Caribbean thing"- we keep it real. And we had a blast! We know that Friday was proud of them that night cause EVERYONE was buzzin' saying 'they aint missin that jam'. And who missed it, missed a perfomance. Daddy Panther showed us the old time thing with the ironing ringing in we head! Aye da man...if it wasn't for self-control, a few of us would have ended up taking off our clothes. That's how sweet it was! It was like we wanted or needed proof that Daddy Panther sounded like Nick and had the stage presence. Boy did we all get it! What A Blast!
So anyone who know Panther- tell him to check out this message. It's for him too:
We didn't know what to expect hearing about you being the newest member to the band. But we got more than we bargained for. Your voice captivated us from beginning to end. You sounded so much like Nick that you brought us to tears...with the rush of memories we couldn't stop laughing and reminising on the good old days Nick blessed us with. His time was short-live but God is a good God. Because now we got you! What else can we ask God for? He took Nick but He gave us you. Daddy Panther, don't ever feel like the weight of the VI is on your shoulders by being the lead singer, jus keep doing what you do. The VI Loves U so don't even think about leaving the band! One door was shut but God opened another for us. You got the voice and the performance...all we need right now! Blessings from the Toppa da Line Dimes and always keep that captivating voice and stage performance that you have now and it's all Good To Go from here! WE LOVE U DADDY PANTHER! Thanks for saying YES when you could have easily said NO to Jam Band!
DADDY PANTHER & THE FOREVER AWESOME JAM BAND we love you all and we will get back to the way things were!
the Sexy, Voluptous & Classy Divas of Toppa da Line Dimes
missin u still... / Cutiez With Da Bootiez Crew (FANS)
Eventhough you're gone your memory we carry on as Daddy Panther performs and lifts your Legacy for us that still mourns.... the loss of you cause if we had to do for you- and to our country that you remained true too, Daddy you would still be here but eventhough you're not here and you're there somewhere in the afterlife we can't forget all the good old times we jammed without a fight cus when your jam's were fight-free we felt the chemistry deeper on a connection level that made us closer to long more for your sweet calypso soca that only Daddy Friday and Jam Band could do us- a takeover but we're forced now to start over... because you've gone away and eventhough we all know that noone can stay we thought you was an exception cause with you we saw PERFECTION!
Living on in hopes of keeping your memory alive in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Maryland...the Caribbean for all the Virgin Islanders here in the mainland and all over the world!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will never let the world foget about your legacy.

DADDY FRIDAY WE WILL MISS YOU AND THOSE GOOD LYRICS U HAD AND ALSO THE VOICE STAY COOL
FARTHER ALONG / C. Seymore (friend of family ) TEMPTED AND TRIED, WE'RE OFT MADE TO WONDER WHY IT SHOULD BE THUS ALL THE DAY LONG, WHILE THERE ARE OTHERS LIVING ABOUT US, NEVER MOLESTED, THOUGH ON THE WRONG.
FARTHER ALONG WE'LL KNOW ALL ABOUT IT, FARTHER ALONG WE'LL UNDERSTAND WHY; CHEER UP MY BROTHER, LIVE IN THE SUNSHINE, WE'LL UNDERSTAND IT ALL BY AND BY.
WHEN DEATH HAS COME AND TAKEN OUR LOVED ONES, IT LEAVES OUR HOME SO LONELY AND DREAR, THEN DO WE WONDER WHY OTHERS PROSPER LIVING SO WICKED YEAR AFTER YEAR,
WE'LL UNDERSTAND IT ALL BY AND BY. WORDS BY J R BAXTER AND W B STEVENS
My Friend, My Neighbor, My Bradda / Rufus Turnbull (One of the BRADDAS ) The previous generation knew where they were when Dr. Martin Luther King Jr died; the Virgin Island's community all will remember where they were when the news of Nick's passing was annouced. Of all places I was in a classroom in Utah when our class president Milton Potter from St. Thomas called my cellular- then in less than 5 minutes, my sister in Miami. The class may have might as well been cancelled as far as I was concerned.
This forum is release for many who can express the way Nick has touched their lives. I have read many of the messages and came to the realization that this forum also relays to the more contemporaries- to include his immediate family- how Nick became the legend we knew.
We had MANY candid conversations about everything.....most will remain confidential. But if you grew up in the early 70's and wanted to go to a 99cents dance a 1/4 mile up the street to hear Milo & the Kings- and you didn't have 99 cents, Nick was the "Tom Sayer" who led you through the bushes at night around the 'onliest' security the island ever knew- Ofc. Clendinen.
"THE BRADDAS" (brothers for the the Spelling police) were the not-so-secret societ of self-proclaim musicians, athletes, and commentators in Bovoni. As young musicians, Nick was the 1st lead singer before he had to good sense to leave us behind. (Fat Albert's band had nothing on us) I played the only real instrument in the band- acoustic guitar, Bimp play the guitar case, Tuma was on the aluminum 6ft ladder. The only instrument Bage could play was his Radio.
The creators for ESPN must have been in our neighborhood and observed where we sat on THE WALL and argued, teased, bantered, and laughed about everything from relationships, politics, and sports. We would read the sports articles in the Daily News embellishing the circumstances their paid reporters fail to document. We even re-inacted instant replays of the Plays of our Day. God forbid that you fail to garner a dance at a recent house party, THE WALL made you live through it again.
As one of my few TRUE friends, Nick knew I was not a JAMBAND fan, which kept our relationship respectfully combative. I also complemented him when I knew he wrote a Calypso Homerun- which were many. He also appreciated when I asked him what will he do when he runs out of nursery rhymes.
Andre "Tuma" Malone, Alvin "Bage" Husband, and Clarence "Bimp" Payne conveyed in their dedication how we grew up. I think Bimp summed it up best when he said that we should not cry, but I truly appreciate the times we had together.
Also, if this forum allows us to somehow speak to Nick directly, I would remind him back in the mid 80's, I told him at a VI Hotel where our bands were, "he was the Micheal Jackson of the Virgin Islands." He simply laughed. The over 25,000 site hits, and over 300 dedications so far definitely concurs with me.

Today would have marked another milestone in Nick's life as he would have celebrated his 44th Birthday. And yet, it's a bitter sweet moment for me because he is no longer here with us, yet I will acknowledge that today as his day- a significant day at that.

"Some DREAMS live on in time Forever Those DREAMS you want with all your Heart But I'll do whatever it takes To follow through with this Promise I've Made I'll put it all on the line so what I've Hoped for at last will be Mines
If I could Reach Higher Just for one Moment Touch the Sky For Just one Moment in my Life I wanna be Stronger I'll know I've tried my very Best to put my Spirit to the test If I could reach"
I keep hearing these words to this song by Gloria Estefan in my head. From the first moment I heard of Nick's untimely death. And I found out today what they meant.
Nick's Dream was Jam Band. His sweat and tears went into making this band and what he wanted it to be- More than His Dream. Nick's high moments were all his accomplishments and achievements through his hardwork, perserverance and determination. And he managed to make Jam Band more than just 'another band'; he made them shine like a Star while working to provide his family with the best. But now Nick is just a Memory, something like a Dream- We want it so badly and eventhough it hurts because it's hard, we will work hard to get it. But like the song, "Some Dreams (NICK) Live On In Time Forever".
Like technology, he got better as the years went by Promoting his Dream-Jam Band so it can be all worthwhile. But now that he's gone, his Legacy lives on And us, his fans, still mourn.
Rest in peace Nicholas. Today is exactly 2 months 3 weeks and a day since you left. I miss so much that I don't know what to say. I should be over you, but it's not so easy to forget something that meant so much. I loved you then and even now...trust me- Ur spirit will never die!
Condolence & Tribute / Eddie Jr. Le Bron (Best friend in N.Y )
Yes, let me begin by expressing my deepest sympathy to the family of our late GREAT GREAT DADDY FRI. Mommy, Pops, sisters, brothers kids, and Jackie, its been three months now, and I still feel the pain as if I had just gotten the call yesterday. We may never heal, but we must grow knowing HE is in a much much better place # one, and HE left HIS great music for us to live with. Everytime Jam Band came to N.Y, I always went to the airport to meet them and made sure everybody- Friday and Lenny especally, were okay. And I will miss that because Friday always picked the place where we going eat after.
Friday was a Legand, and I did whatever he asked of me with great pride and joy. I am a DJ here in N.Y now, and I will MAKE SURE YOUR MUSIC FROM DE V.I. WILL NEVER DIE!!! SLEEP WELL DADDY(who we hurt we hurt). Close

When i got the news of Fridays death the first thing i said was stop playen. As the days went by i came to realize that Friday had acutally left us. No more miami jam, Labour day jam, East end jourvet(tola), Road town jouvert (tola) rock city jouvert. It was like the life of carnival was gone. Friday brought smiles to every ones face from the lyrics of his songs or just the rythm. Now Friday has gone i say to the family, keep your heads up god never gives more than u can bear. And to the fans i know it going be hard when carnival reach with out friday but still try enjoy yall self. That made friday hapy seeing every one having fun. And on this note i say Rest in Peace Daddy Fridday you are gone but u will surely not be forgotten.

My hearts and prays goes out to the family of Nick Friday. Friday and I attended Nazareth in his high shool years. I can only hold on to the memories we shared while in school. The candy room was the hang out place and Friday never skip a beat with a good joke and laughter. Everyone knew him by Friday for Jamband, but I can take the privilege of knowing him without the MIKE in his hand. Eventhough we did not see each other on a regular, everytime he came to New York we would run into each other and reminisce. I would always tell him "Friday, I know you are not charging me regular price for your CD." He would laugh and tell me "Hillis, I can't do that." Jackie you are my classsmate and friend, and my heart goes out to you. Van, you are also a very good friend and the same holds true. Stand tall and keep the faith, because he lives in his music and in everyone's heart who he has touch, and in that we can take comfort. Close
