We've lost A Soca Legend and 'De sweet Scoa from de VI  / Pat Jeffers (Nevisian #1 Fan )
Being a long standing fan of 'Daddy Friday'  I too was shocked when I learnt of 'Daddy' Friday's passing.  I can remember those great years of the 80's when Jam Band brought out those really great tunes.  Our favourite night spot then was Dick's Bar on Nevis and people like me, Beno (my husband) Ruffer, Janet, Andrew, Jessica (the late) , hammond, Bags and de #1 limer then, the one and only 'Sacoo', went crazy when de DJ start playing Jam Band music.  The DJ the was Uncle Don out of Brick Klin. It was then I had a love for Daddy Fridays great voice and the sweet soca music that he and his band played.  In those days it was like ritual that we leave the dance with a Jam Band song.

It's really sad that we have to lose 'Daddy' so soon.  It was always my wish to meet him in person and compliment him on his great voice and sweet, sweet Soca music.  The closest I got to him was on a boat ride in St. Thomas in 1989 when my friend Vanessa & Sacoo took me out but de music was so 'dam' sweet from de time I got onto the boat until we left, i kept dancing and I did not get a chance to meet him. My lastest favourites are 'Kill de Rabit' ( I heard the riot that this was causes that year) and 'Music from de VI'.......ooooui, I, oooooui, I, oooooui I.........Music from de V-I.,ooooui, I, oooooui, I, oooooui I.....Music from de V-I.......sing it 'Daddy!'   Every time I hear this one, I could be in me 99 nap, I have to get up and 'wine' to de sweet music from de VI.

I'd like to express my sincere and deepest sympathy to his immediate family, friends and de whole JAM BAND Massive!   We gonna miss 'Daddy' tremendously but we gonna keep de jam alive until we meet him and finish it on de other side!

God Bless.  Pat Jeffers, Nevis, WI.

A Legend, A Educator, Mentor, Lawyer, Musician and the list goes on. Daddy Friday you was one of a kind. When I heard the news that day I was just about to pay for my ticket to go Miami behind Jam Band for years me and my friend had planed to go just to support Daddy Friday and The Awesome Jam Band. The Last time they played in Tortola was for the Carrot Bay Festival and that was the first in a long time I saw Daddy Friday and the rest of the band dance on stage at the same time just having fun, who knew that would be our last Jam Band dance with "Daddy Friday" present. People say Friday  had put a curse on his fans cause from time Nick say mic check people done start dancing we danced in the rain, the mud, in the water and if the Virgin Islands use to snow yeah we would have danced in the snow untill Jam Band was finished. For the years Friday been on this earth he accumplished alot. It's still hard to listen to so his songs (don't talk about the soca tunes) without crying and  that the next time we go to a Jam Band dance "Daddy Friday" would not be there. To all the Jam Band fans remember the words of a great man     " Never Give Up Music"

Friday we Love you.

"There'll be singing up in Heaven such as we have never heard."  / Fan Of The 80's (Old Time Fan )
I am a christian now but I have those fond worldly memories of the Jam Band in the early 80's after graduating from High School.  That Music back then was extra sweet, it was nothing like these latest songs of the 90's.  When I heard the radio station paying tribute by playing those songs of the 80's it has brought back many memories(I am only human)  I last say Friday at Kendoy's funeral as he walked very close to me and hailed me. (If only we knew the future, I would have prayed with him and invited him to accept the Lord as his Saviour.  Anyway, maybe he did have a chance before it was too late. To the many fans out there, Friday is gone, you will miss his music, but there will be singing up in heaven such as we have never heard. Give your life to Christ before it is too late.  To his family, "trust in God always." Close
